
The SRA SOAR Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Programs engage college students to increase college persistence rates, graduation rates, and the obtainment of career-ladder jobs.
About the Sophomore and Junior SOAR Programs
Students in the SRA SOAR Sophomore and Junior Programs are matched with a virtual SRA advisor and placed in a small cohort of fellow sophomores or juniors and a Peer Mentor. Throughout the 9-month program from September 2022 - May 2023, students will participate in one or two virtual hangouts per month, which will guide students through topics like financial aid renewal, summer internship and job search, overcoming imposter syndrome, interviewing skills, and more!
The Sophomore and Junior SOAR programs require a time commitment of ~1.5-2.5 hours per month from September 2022 - May 2023.
Dates and times of monthly virtual hangouts are to be determined. Applicants will submit availability after acceptance into the program.
About the Senior SOAR Program
Students in the SRA SOAR Program are matched with a virtual SRA advisor and placed in a small cohort of fellow seniors. SOAR Seniors are also matched with a New Grad Mentor who will work with them one-on-one over the course of the year. Throughout the 9-month program from September 2022 - May 2023, students will participate in one New Grad Mentor session and one virtual hangout per month, which will guide students through topics like comparing job offers and negotiating salary, learning to adult parts 1 and 2, transition to life afer college, mock interviews, and more!
The Senior SOAR program requires a time commitment of ~2.5 hours per month from September 2022 - May 2023.
Dates and times of monthly virtual hangouts are to be determined. Applicants will submit availability after acceptance into the program. Scholars will schedule sessions with their New Grad Mentors directly.
Peer Mentor Internship Program
Students applying for the Junior and Senior SOAR Programs are eligible and encouraged to apply to be Peer Mentors for the First-year, Sophomore, and Junior SOAR Programs. *Please note that you must participate concurrently as a Scholar in the Junior or Senior SOAR Program in order to participate in the SOAR Peer Mentor Internship Program

WHO CAN APPLY TO BE A SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, or SENIOR SOAR SCHOLAR?
Any student entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of college at an accredited two- or four-year college for the 2022-2023 school year is eligible to apply. Students in the SRA Rising Stars Program are not eligible to apply for the SOAR Program.
STIPEND INFORMATION
Each SOAR Scholar will be eligible to receive a total stipend of up to $500 upon fulfillment of program requirements ($250 at the end of fall 2022 semester, $250 at the end of spring 2023 semester).
Is this different from the Students Rising Above Rising Stars Program?
Yes. The SRA Rising Stars Program is a five-year program that accepts applications from high school juniors in March of each year. Current students in the SRA Rising Stars Program are NOT eligible to apply for the SOAR Program.
